Downward slide! (26) Ladysmith Memorial Park , (27) Hemlock Segment Ice Age Trail

It was a nice day for some outdoor adventure, and Sara had to get COVID vaccine shot #2 in Ladysmith, so the gang went for a drive. The Ladysmith Memorial Park (26) was a fun adventure for a localish park. Looks like a decent beach too. Quinn didn't want to leave... Unfortunately we didn't capture any pictures. Chris's parents are up from Rochester so we trekked to Devil's Kettle and then made our way to Murphy's Flowage by Birchwood to check out the Hemlock Segment of the Ice Age Trail. Lots of beaver dams along the loop! Worth the views and about a 3 mile hike if you take the trail loop!

Camp Waldron (25)

This one might not count, but we missed our summer camping trip and that is one of our favorite parts of summer. So we did some camping in the yard. We had games, s'mores, hot dogs over the fire, and so much fun. Camp Waldron was a great memory for our 50 things in 50 miles!

Indian Mounds Park and the Archery Range (23 & 24)

These adventures took us less than 10 miles from home. The Indian Mounds park is one we hadn't driven by. It's beautiful along the lake shoreline and is home to indian burial grounds and see me beautiful sculptures. We also took time to check out the Archery Range!

Backroads Safari #21

This place brought us many laughs and a few years! Backwoods Safari in Boyceville (53 miles) was a new experience for us with animals coming right up to the door! Here is the description from their website: A place to create memories in the comfort of your vehicle. Travel the designated roads in our drive-thru animal park, seeing many different species of animals that come from all over the world. Enjoy watching zebras, camels, kangaroos, water buffalo, ostrich, and MORE

Perlicks Sunflower Maze (18), Coop's Pizza (19) and Main Street-Hayward (20)

Well we made a day of it.

First stop-Perlick Farms Sunflower Maze (18) Interestingly, this was the first time any of us had ever visited a field of sunflowers. They were very pretty and it's probably the only time we were around so many bees and no one was freaking out! We atempted 2 mazes. I will say we were successful on the short one, but somehow we came out in the same place as we went in on the medium on. (Reading maps is not a strong suit of ours). All in all I recommend this adventure (and if the sunflowers aren't blooming, there is always the distillery!

Next we headed to Coop's Pizza (19 ) in Hayward. This is a favorite of ours. Not sure if it's the fried portabella mushrooms or the pizza! For the kids it's probably the giant fish tank. Either way, it's pretty tasty.

Finally, what's a trip to Hayward without a stroll down mainstreet? Especially when it involves Chocolate Shoppe ice cream from Sundae's With Annabell and Charlotte. This hit the spot on a very hot day.

Pioneer Village (17)

Mylee has been begging to visit a museum, so her and I ventured out to the Pioneer Village (17) in Barron.  You can check it out more by visiting their website: https://www.pioneervillagemuseum.org/

Pioneer Village does a great job of showing the history of Barron County.  Buildings from different periods in history show many artifacts and tell of a rich history.  We enjoyed our visit and would certainly visit again when we aren't in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.  We were able to see most exhibits and it was a pretty quiet day.
