These adventures took us less than 10 miles from home. The Indian Mounds park is one we hadn't driven by. It's beautiful along the lake shoreline and is home to indian burial grounds and see me beautiful sculptures. We also took time to check out the Archery Range!
45.3 miles, Interstate Falls State Park (22)- Scenic park on the St. Croix River with gorges, hiking trails & exhibits about the Ice Age glaciers.
We met uncle Paul and Uncle Sean for a hike on a beautiful afternoon!
This place brought us many laughs and a few years! Backwoods Safari in Boyceville (53 miles) was a new experience for us with animals coming right up to the door! Well we made a day of it.
First stop-Perlick Farms Sunflower Maze (18) Interestingly, this was the first time any of us had ever visited a field of sunflowers. They were very pretty and it's probably the only time we were around so many bees and no one was freaking out! We atempted 2 mazes. I will say we were successful on the short one, but somehow we came out in the same place as we went in on the medium on. (Reading maps is not a strong suit of ours). All in all I recommend this adventure (and if the sunflowers aren't blooming, there is always the distillery!
Next we headed to Coop's Pizza (19 ) in Hayward. This is a favorite of ours. Not sure if it's the fried portabella mushrooms or the pizza! For the kids it's probably the giant fish tank. Either way, it's pretty tasty.
Finally, what's a trip to Hayward without a stroll down mainstreet? Especially when it involves Chocolate Shoppe ice cream from Sundae's With Annabell and Charlotte. This hit the spot on a very hot day.
